556MG AM Silencer (GOV/LE Only)

Description

The Griffin Armament 556MG AM is a heavy duty machine gun suppressor optimized for the belt fed FN M249 SAW fully automatic weapon system. Made from Griffin’s patent-pending Nickel 625X™ superalloy, the 556MG AM is constructed to meet the extreme requirements that the M249 demands. This suppressor is currently only available to US Government agencies, their US State Department-approved allied country partners, and law enforcement.

The 556MG AM’s 1.87″ diameter allows for peak sound performance while minimizing added length to the host system. These suppressors are built on Griffin’s patented DUAL-LOK® mounting system for the most reliable retention, accuracy, and speed of installation. The flash hider system provides exceptional flash performance with 5.56mm NATO ammunition, ensuring a high degree of visible signature reduction. The ribs at the rear of the suppressor provide increased surface area for added cooling of the blast chamber, while peripheral venting and low backpressure technology keeps operator exposure to toxic gases at a minimum while simultaneously reducing wear and stress to the host firearm.

These suppressors can be supplied with a 1/2×28 or 9/16×24 threaded DUAL-LOK® Closed Tine Flash Hider to accommodate both the standard length M249 barrel, as well as the 13.7″ Para or MK46 barrels. Both of these muzzle devices retain BFA compatibility with the BFA’s supplied for each barrel length.

The proprietary, patent-pending Nickel 625X™ alloy showed in testing a ~68% increase in yield and tensile strength over additively manufactured INCONEL® 625 at 1200°F.  INCONEL® 625 is a commonly used suppressor alloy in current next generation military suppressors.  Additively manufactured Nickel 625X™ is stronger at 1472°F than INCONEL® 625 cold formed sheet material at room temperature.  INCONEL® 625 cold formed material provided adequate service in the last several decades of military suppressors.
