Griffin Armament has long been a trailblazer in the suppressor market, and their Revolution 9 and 45 MOD 4 suppressors are no exception. Building on the success of their predecessors, the MOD 4 variants introduce a suite of innovative feature enhancements that make these silencers more user-friendly than ever before. Let’s dive into what sets the Rev 9 and 45 MOD 4 suppressors apart from previous generations and why they are a game-changer for shooters.
Tool-Less Modularity for Seamless Configuration
One of the standout features of the Revolution series has always been its modular length design, a concept Griffin Armament pioneered over a decade ago. This concept took the industry by storm and inspired the many, modular-length, pistol suppressors on the market today. The MOD 4 takes this to the next level with tool-less reconfiguration. The forward-positioned extension now allows users to switch between full-size and short (K) configurations without any tools, making it quick and easy to adapt the suppressor to different firearms or shooting scenarios. This is a significant improvement over earlier generations, where reconfiguration often required additional tools and time.
Moving the extension to the forward end of the suppressor is now the norm, and improves end user interactions. Gone are the days of removing the booster assembly to reconfigure length.

Enhanced Mounting Security
Mounting security is critical for suppressor performance, especially on tilt-barrel handguns prone to excessive vibration. MOD 4 Revolution Suppressors ship with an included EZ-LOK™ piston, a much more secure system than direct thread. With the EZ-LOK™ system, it is best practice to check for suppressor tightness every 1-3 mags (15-45 rounds), versus every 2-3 rounds with direct thread systems. This 5 to 15-fold increase in suppressor mounting security is a no-brainer, providing peace of mind for shooters in dynamic environments.
Booster housings in MOD 4 Rev Suppressors are permanently installed, a peace-of-mind upgrade from previous designs where repeated tightening and loosening of the suppressor could risk loosening the booster assembly. This new design ensures the suppressor remains securely mounted during use, further reducing the need for frequent installation tightness checks.

CARBON-GARD™ Baffle Technology
A groundbreaking addition to the MOD 4 is Griffin’s patented CARBON-GARD™ baffle technology. This innovation was developed and introduced in Griffin’s CHECKMATE-HD™ rimfire suppressor and vastly improves over pre-existing suppressor user maintenance interactions. Each baffle, the booster assembly, end cap, and tube extension are individually sealed with high temp silicon o-rings, limiting carbon buildup to the inside of the baffle stack.
This prevents carbon from building up between the baffles and the tube body making it easier to remove the baffles after extended courses of fire. Incorporating this feature into the MOD 4 Rev suppressors increases their maintenance interval giving you more time on target and less time cleaning.
The end cap and tube extension integrate a double o-ring seal system, which significantly increases retention of modular parts, preventing inadvertent loosening of the end cap and tube extension during extended courses of fire. The MOD 4’s baffles, still manufactured from 17-4 stainless steel, now benefit from this advanced technology, ensuring longer service life and easier upkeep. This makes the suppressor ideal for high-volume shooters who demand reliability without constant maintenance.
Versatile Mounting Options
The Revolution 9 and 45 have always been praised for their versatility, and the MOD 4 generation maintains these features with backwards compatibility with pre-existing Griffin mounting systems. These include EZ-LOK™ and direct thread pistons, fixed barrel mounts, fixed barrel spacers, Griffin’s industry-first integrated 3-lug mount, and Plan-A™ taper mounts. MOD 4 Revolution suppressors are full-auto rated for all compatible pistol calibers with no barrel length restrictions. MOD 4 Revolution 9’s are rated for 9mm ammunition and subsonic ammunition in rifle calibers up to .300 Blackout. The Mod 4 Revolution 45 is rated for .45ACP ammunition and subsonic ammunition in rifle calibers up to .45-70. MOD 4 Revolutions are rated for subsonic rifle calibers ONLY when utilizing a fixed mount such as a fixed barrel spacer, or Griffin’s 3-Lug Mount, or Plan-A™ Taper Mount adapter.
Sound Performance and Tone
MOD 4 Revolution suppressors perform similarly or outperform MOD 3 performance ratings in Griffin’s internal testing, with a notable improvement in tone for the shooter and bystanders. It’s hard to convey what that really means without hearing the suppressor yourself next to the previous generation, but everyone at Griffin HQ agrees that these are Griffin’s best sounding pistol cans to date. The tone is deep and pleasant to the ears, with first round pop being remarkably soft.

Why the MOD 4 Stands Out
The Griffin Armament Rev 9 and 45 MOD 4 suppressors represent a significant evolution over their predecessors. The combination of secure, tool-less modularity, enhanced mounting security, CARBON-GARD™ sealed baffle technology, backwards-compatible mounting options, and improved user-serviceability makes these suppressors a top choice for shooters seeking versatility and reliability in a “dedicated” pistol suppressor. Whether you’re a competitive shooter, a plinker, or a tactical enthusiast, the Revolution MOD 4 advancements ensure it meets the demands of modern firearms use while maintaining Griffin’s commitment to quality and innovation.
