Description
With the appropriate Griffin Armament Suppressor Alignment Check Rod, an end user or gunsmith can verify alignment of the chosen suppressor and mount with the desired host. Installation and use of this tool is simple and should prevent baffle strikes or any unexpected issues once you get to the range.
Griffin Armament has gone to great lengths to accommodate a wide variety of thread pitch and caliber options across our silencer mount and adapter products. This gives practically every end user who wishes to suppress their host the opportunity to do so! With this wide range of compatibility comes its own set of issues, the main one being silencer and mount alignment to the host firearm’s bore.
To use the Suppressor Check Alignment Rod:
- Properly mount your silencer to the host firearm
- Insert Suppressor Alignment Check Rod down bore of the silencer and into the host firearm bore until the end of the rod is flush with the end-cap of your silencer
- Observe alignment and confirm rod is positioned near the center of the silencer bore (refer to images above for examples of proper alignment and misalignment)
- Host firearm may need to be rotated around bore to confirm alignment due to tolerance between the bore and check rod.
- If mount and silencer are in alignment, remove rod and enjoy your suppressed firearm!
If you are experiencing misalignment with a Griffin Armament suppressor, please contact our Customer Service department for assistance. We may be able to help, however it is important to note that some threaded barrels in the market are not cut with the needed quality to safely mount a sound suppressor. If your firearm exhibits this condition we suggest the use of Adco Firearms in Sylvania, OH for custom suppressor grade threading.

I received the Griffin check rod today. I had several weapons systems that needed checking before firing. The check rod is packaged in a plastic tube with end caps to protect it from damage. The rod itself was as advertised that it was straight, correct caliber, and chamfered on both ends to protect the rifling in the barrel when in use. I checked the alignment from barrel to suppressor and found all suppressors within tolerances. To have the ability to check that alignment at any time – gives me peace of mind that I will not have an unwanted internal projectile strike within the suppressor.

This was just what I needed to verify that one of my suppressors was not concentric. The suppressor suffered a baffle strike and the alignment check rod proved that the suppressor was the culprit and not the barrel (I tried it on a different firearm which also had the same misalignment). I ordered a .22 , 9mm and a .45 cal check rods , they came packaged in a plastic tube inside a packed cardboard tube inside a packed box (very well protected) .tested them out on several firearms and alignment was perfect , I am very well satisfied with the rods and would recommend them instead of a baffle strike .

This rod saved my rear on more than one occasion trying to determine if I could use a suppressor on my AK’s. I only have 1 our of 7 factory threaded AK’s that’s concentric enough. You might get away with a 5.45 or 5.56 round through a 30 cal can but you better not shoot that 7.62 until you check for sure.

With this rod, you can take the hope-ium factor out and shoot clench free.

Use of this tool should be made mandatory to ensure proper attachement of the suppressor to the pistol. I use alignment check rods on my 9mm and .45ACP pistols. Do not, repeat, DO NOT fire that first shot without checking the alignment!

These rods are expensive but worth the money. I have several firearms that I switch my bushwhacker 46 around on ( excellent supressor by the way) and checking alignment is critical. I have already found that some other companies adapters are not as good of quality as griffins and I have found alignment issues. Without theses rods you would find out the hard way.
