Description
During the development of our Bayonet compatible mounts for our DUAL-LOK® suppressors, we decided to make a companion bayonet compatible micro brake. It offers end users of government specification 5.56mm M4 carbines, the HK IAR, and M16A2-3-4 rifles, several key performance attributes:
- Bayonet mounting on otherwise bayonet compatible government profile barrels with exposed bayonet lug
- Ability to shorten the suppressor mounted configuration .780″ bringing 6.5″ suppressors to similar mounted length to 5.72″ OAL, K model suppressors
- A sacrificial baffle for the purpose of protecting the baffle system and promoting the best suppressed sound signature possible in the provided length configuration
- Supports suppressors capable of receiving a shorter 1.95″ OAL mount.
- Shortest possible barrel / muzzle adapter length (Adds only .541″ Length to the host barrel)
These mounts also allow end users to shorten the mounted overall length of their suppressors, acting as mini-OTB (Over the barrel) mount systems. This mount requires a suppressor capable of receiving a 1.95” OAL mount. This includes our built in DUAL-LOK® muzzle suppressors (DUAL-LOK® 5&7) and our Utility Mount suppressors with DUAL-LOK® HUB (1.375×24) interface. These suppressors are lighter than anything similar on the market, so this overlaps and renders unnecessary the point of running louder, shorter cans to keep OAL more convenient on firearms with the required unobstructed barrel for interfacing these mounts.
For example, a mounted SOCOM RC2 is 6.5” length past the thread shoulder, identical to our EXPLORR Utility mount with DUAL-LOK® mount attached, and our DUAL-LOK® 5.56mm suppressors. This mount will shorten length past shoulder to 5.72”OAL for the 6.5″ Explorr UT2/Dual-Lok.
This mount does shorten the relationship of the blast baffle to the muzzle crown, but also does provide a sacrificial baffle for protecting the baffle system from wear.
