The CAM-LOK® (Covert Application Mount - Locking) Universal piston system is comprised from two parts, the piston or CAM-LOK® direct thread adapter, and the barrel adapter.  This product page is for the barrel adapter (smaller black component pictured).

The Griffin Armament CAM-LOK® interface affords the user the ability to convert the suppressor to a much faster and more secure mounting solution on pistols vs it's legacy technology, single piece, direct thread piston counterparts.  This system provides a rapid, secure attachment to the host pistol.  Direct thread single piece pistons have several negative attributes.  They do not accept tools, and are hand tightened to the host firearm. As a result of hand installation, they loosen when the piston system reciprocates under slide cycling during the firing sequence.  This vibration and inadvertent loosening of pistol silencers, requires end users to constantly check tighten pistol silencers.  This periodically causes users to have "bad range days" with unforeseen baffle strikes and end cap strikes.  These unfortunate events cause logistically burdensome work for consumers to communicate with service departments, ship products back and forth, and sometimes assume charges for repair for these issues.

No longer do users need to worry about their pistol suppressors loosening during use (as with traditional fixed direct thread pistons).  The CAM-LOK® interface supports a 3/4" socket wrench for installation with prevailing torque, and features a taper locking system, which encourages secure attachment, despite the piston still actuating for and aft during the firing sequence.  The piston or CAM-LOK® direct thread adapter can be attached / detached in any one of three, 120 degree positions, ensuring there are no "false positive" interfacing positions to slow deployment of the suppressor onto the host firearm.  Additionally, the manufacturing accuracy of the interface is held to Griffin Armament's high quality standards for squareness, and concentricity, ensuring that each mounting position has similar and minimal POI shift influence. To support this, the mating pistons and CAM-LOK® direct thread adapters have all mating diameters and interfacing geometry qualified in a single operation, for tool quality accuracy and perfection.  A similar manufacturing theory was applied to the barrel adapter for maximum alignment accuracy.

End users benefit from being able to attach their silencer to various adapter interfaced host firearms, without having to disassemble the suppressor and change the piston to a different thread pitch.  The piston is "universal"; accommodating any pistol mounted with a 3 Lug universal barrel adapter.  Additionally, end users with different brand suppressors supported by the CAM-LOK® piston family, will be able to benefit from the interchangeability of CAM-LOK® QD barrel adapters between CAM-LOK® piston models. This adapter also acts as a thread protector for the more expensive barrel's threads which when used with fixed pistons, are traditionally exposed.

9mm versions are shorter  .45 caliber versions feature an extended cylinder to attach to the larger diameter barrels.

Installation & Use Notes  : Suppressor should be tightly assembled when using this product to avoid inadvertent disassembly of the suppressor when removing it from QD barrel adapter. We recommend to check suppressor tightness every magazine to ensure it has not worked loose due to vibration caused by the cycling of the slide. Barrel adapters should be installed to their host firearms with a minimum torque rating of 20 ft/lbs using a 3/4 socket and needle type torque wrench.  Use of a box end wrench will not have optimal contact with the wrench flat geometry on the adapter and may damage the adapter.

FOR FIXED BARREL APPLICATIONS (PISTOL CALIBERS ONLY)  : This can be accomplished using one of our CAM-LOK® direct thread adapters, in conjunction with a CAM-LOK® barrel adapter.

Note: CAM-LOK® is designed to be a covert, QD silencer attachment method, and should not be perceived as an active-locking system. CAM-LOK® should be check-tightened each magazine at a minimum. For customers looking for a more traditionally-threaded system with increased retention, we recommend EZ-LOK™ as an alternative.

*NOTE*

1/2x28: Indexes off the barrel shoulder. For use on standard, sub compact, compact, and full-size tilt-barrel firearms that have a normal profile of barrel (G19, G17, P320, S&W M&P 2.0).

1/2x28 Special: Indexes off the face of the muzzle. For use on micro compact tilt barrel firearms with little to no barrel shoulder due to the thinner profile of the barrel (G43, G43x, G48, P365, P365XL, Hellcat).

If you are concerned about fitment, the 1/2x28 special will work on a normal profile barrel as well. It will operate the same, but if you have a longer threaded surface on your barrel, you may see uncovered threads rearward of the muzzle device when using this option.

1/2x28 SMG/PCC: Made specifically for SMG’s and PCC’s (Sub Machine Guns and Pistol Caliber Carbines) that have the industry standard length of threads commonly found on carbines: 0.625.”

Glock Gen 4 or Gen 5 users: It is reported the barrel adapter may touch your guide rod when the slide reciprocates. We have not been able to replicate in house using CAM-LOK®/EZ-LOK™ barrel adapters with Glock Gen 4/5 recoil spring assemblies. However, the items below allow your Glock® Gen 4/5 to work with a Glock® Gen 3 recoil spring assembly that does not have this reported issue.

    True Innovation

Published by Unknown on 3rd Nov 2020

The piston and the adapter mount up nicely. With mine if you jam the adapter into the piston all the way you have to back it out about 1/2mm before it will turn and lock into place. It's extremely secure and makes life nice. No need to muscle the can on and no need to constantly tighten. Swapping a suppressor among several hosts is a breeze. I can now use an OEM barrel for my Sig instead of a 3rd party one that came in 1/2 x 28. Instead of shopping for one off parts to make things 'compatible' you can just put on an adapter and go about your business.

These are great. Move your suppressor from one gun to the other. Tight lock up and you don’t have to worry about it coming lose.

    Field Application

Quality is first rate! Torqued to twenty foot-lbs as directed. Installed easy enough but I seem to have a drastic POI shift compared against the thread on piston previously used in my Revo 45 can ... jury is out.

I just wrote a great review of the cam lock piston and adapter. I can't say enough good about this system. Its so good, I am selling my old pistons because I will never use them again.

    Cam-Lok

Published by Alan on 24th Aug 2020

This cam-lok barrel adapter worked great. You have to get the piston that corresponds with the suppressor you are using. Let me tell you these two products work great. With utilizing the corse thread in conjunction with the taper lock between the two parts the suppressor doesn’t move. Screw it down the half of a turn and it is locked on. No amount of shooting on my Glock 19, Archon Type B, CZ P01 did it ever start to back off the threads like a typical direct thread does. This is a great product!! Thank you Griffin for inventing such a wonderful product.

    Cam-Lok Pistol Adapter

Published by Hue Jasss on 12th Aug 2020

I already reviewed the piston part of this system and in short, I love the whole thing. As mentioned, the only downside is the cost of these adapters, but innovation and design aren’t cheap and I understand that so I’m willing to pay for them. To properly torque these onto your barrel, make sure you have a deep well 3/4” socket. You could get by with an open ended or crescent wrench, but you run the risk of marring the flats on the device. A socket will help prevent that and help establish proper torque. I am concerned about the tri-lug threads and the device taper being exposed all the time when unsuppressed, but I’m not throwing my guns around like an animal so I don’t think that’s too much to worry about. I would recommend investing in this system if you like shooting multiple pistols suppressed at a time and if you hate having to smoke your direct thread cans on to make sure they’re tight. Basically, buy this and you won’t be disappointed.
